The Friends of Valley Park are celebrating after their green space was honoured with a prestigious Green Flag Community Award.
It celebrates the dedication and hard work of the volunteer group, supported by the County Council, in maintaining and enhancing the park for the benefit of the local community.
Valley Park, a cherished green space in Cramlington, has seen significant improvements and upkeep thanks to the efforts of the Friends of Valley Park.
The County Council has supported the volunteer group by funding various projects through its QEII Memorial Fund, ensuring the park remains a vibrant and welcoming environment for all visitors.
Glen Sanderson, Leader of Northumberland County Council, praised the Friends of Valley Park for their outstanding contribution:
He said: "We are incredibly proud of the Friends of Valley Park for their dedication and hard work in making Valley Park a wonderful place for the community. Their collaboration with us has been exemplary, and the Green Flag Community Award is a testament to their commitment.
“The funding from the QEII Memorial Fund has allowed us to support these vital improvements, and we look forward to continuing our partnership to enhance our green spaces across Northumberland."
The Green Flag Community Award is a national benchmark for quality in green spaces, and this recognition highlights the exceptional efforts of the Friends of Valley Park’s community spirit and environmental stewardship.
