Resurfacing works for Prudhoe park

Work is taking place next week to improve the car park at Tyne Riverside Country Park at Low Prudhoe.

The re-stoning and grading of the parking area is scheduled to take place week commencing February 17th and follows a series of investments in country parks and green spaces across the county.

At times parts of the car park will be closed to public access to enable the works, although this will be kept to a minimum.  The cafe and visitor centre, and the rest of the park will be open as usual throughout the works.

Colin Horncastle, Cabinet member for looking after our environment at Northumberland County Council, said: "We are committed to improving and enhancing access to parks and green spaces across the whole county.

"In recent years we have made significant investments to improve the play area at the Prudhoe site, including provision of accessible play equipment, as well as an improved cafe and toilet facilities.

“The improvements to the country park are proving to be very popular, especially the high quality and value for money of the food and drinks at the park’s cafe and combined with free parking provision for visitors the site is going from strength to strength.

“While we have previously carried out routine maintenance works to improve the condition of the car park, it has deteriorated further over the winter period and so we are making some additional investment this year to make the area smoother and safer for all those who come and visit.”

Prudhoe North Councillor Angie Scott added: “I am delighted to see this investment in the carpark which is so popular, both locally and with visitors from further afield.”
